What is a DPF filter?
DPF filters are part of all diesel car exhaust
system, the filter limits the amount
harmful soot particles contained within
the diesel exhaust gas passing into the
atmosphere.
When the soot builds up in the DPF filter the
filter automatically carries out a regeneration
to reduce the soot that has been collected.
Usually this regeneration is carried out by
the vehicles electronic control systems
raising the exhaust gas temperature, during
normal driving.
Why Do I Need Additional Protection
A DPF can remain effective for a long service
life through repeated cycles of trapping
particulate matter and regeneration. If
however, the vehicle is only driven either on
short journeys, or at low speed, then it may
not be possible for the exhaust gas to reach a high enough temperature for regeneration.
In this situation, the warning light on the dashboard will be illuminated
What is DPF extended Guarantee?
If a vehicle DPF is damaged or
becomes blocked and will not
regenerate, it will require a specialist
clean or possible replacement. This
can only be carried out by a workshop
equipped with the manufacturer’s
diagnostic equipment and specialist
cleaning equipment.
Having to have a DPF removed from
the vehicle and cleaned at a specialist
location or replaced can be costly, it
makes sense to extend your Guarantee
to cover for potential financial loss and
inconvenience.
